Exams are a wonderful way for students to progress through their training, build confidence and allow students to strive for short, as well as long term goals. Through a history of taking these exams herself, as well as training her own students for these exams, Miss Dani’s vast experience has shown that formal exams in any genre present a unique opportunity for the children to display and take pride in how hard they have worked acting as a milestone in that grade. Her past exam students always have found their exam experience to be uplifting, beneficial and rewarding.
League23 have chosen the syllabi that they will be using for certain classes. Ballet, Tap and Acro will be taught exercises and techniques to prepare the students to sit an exam in that genre.
From this syllabus work and development of technique we are able to put what we learn into performance routines. In Term 3 students of all classes, including exam classes, will begin to learn a concert routine for our end of year show. As the first two terms are focused primarily on technique, teachers will be able to pack routines full of newly learnt technical skills learnt from these syllabi. Although focusing still on perfecting our exam exercises, the concert is also an amazing opportunity to learn different choreography with the fundamental skills learnt in these classes.
As a studio who values the growth and commitment of our dancers, it is our pleasure to offer exams in Classical Ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), Tap through the Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus, as well as Acrobatics with Acrobatic Arts. As this is our first year we will, most likely, not be having students sitting exams this year. We are firm believers of taking the time for technique development, waiting until the dancers are confident and not rushing through grades for the sake of it.
The Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus consists of 11 levels and focus on building strong tap technique that derive from intricate rhythms and steps. Being very different in style and essence, compared other tap syllabi, Glenn Wood Tap is founded on solid technique whilst being relaxed and enjoyable. The dynamic program is concentrated on perfecting fundamental steps and developing them to create difficult movements, complicated rhythms and evoking a smooth style. Miss Dani has received overwhelmingly high results from her students past performance in Glenn Wood Tap - receiving results up to a 95% with one year of coaching.
League23 are fully qualified to teach all levels of Glenn Wood Tap to our students.
The Royal Academy of Dance Program for Classical ballet is the most highly recognised ballet syllabus worldwide. Exams start with Pre-Primary, Primary and progress through Grades 1-5. After Grade 5 the teacher chooses whether the student will be a candidate for pointe work and progress to the Vocational Levels (Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced Foundation etc.) or continue with Grades 6-8. Both pathways are unique and challenging, but it completely depends on the dancer to determine which route would benefit them in the best way.
Acrobatic Arts is an amazing new Acrobatics program designed for dancers. The program is based on safe and effective progressions with proven results in five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strength, Balancing, Limbering and Tumbling. Simple thoughtful progressions take the beginner preschool level dancer from log rolls and summersaults to the advanced dancer tumbling effortlessly across the stage. The Acrobatic Arts examination process is designed to motivate dancers. Having defined and achievable goals is a proven way to motivate dancers to excel. Dancers work through twelve exam levels, each designed to create a well balanced acrobat.
Miss Dani is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Teacher for Module 1.
